I am the general manager of Organization of Cancer patients, families and friends “For a new day” from Croatia (on Croatian: Za novi dan). My organization was set up by group of young people who, directly or indirectly, were faced with malignant diseases. We are launching public health-educational campaign about prevention and early detection of cancer in Croatia. The lifestyle choices we make, the foods we eat, and our physical activity levels have a direct impact on our overall cancer risk.In this campaign we will focus on colorectal, breast, lung, prostate, cervical, skin and testicular cancers, because they can be prevented through lifestyle changes or early detection and treatment. Research has shown that up to two-thirds of cancer deaths are caused by smoking, physical inactivity and poor diet choices. We can significantly reduce our risk for cancer by following these four simple steps: eat well, be active, dont smoke and get screened. These steps are more than a call to action — they're the keys to leading a longer, healthier life.
